Watch a Mock Mediation in Action
If you are interested in seeing how a 'real' mediation works in action, we have filmed a mock mediation with the Agricultural Law Association and Scottish Mediation that covers a fictional dispute between a landlord and a tenant farmer using mediation to try to resolve a waygoing from an agricultural holding.
Designed for anyone interested in finding out how mediation works, what a mediation looks like, and how it can benefit them, watch the mock mediation to see participants role play a fictional scenario to show how the process of mediation works. The participants are not actors, but are experts in their fields:
- Christopher Nicholson (STFA Chairman) plays the role of tenant, supported by solicitor Hamish Lean and land agent Tom Oates
- David Johnstone (former SLE Chairman) acts as the landlord, supported by solicitor Heather Bruce and land agent Mark Fogden
- Pamela Lyall and Lindsay Burley act in their real-life role as mediators to work with the landlord and tenant to try and resolve the situation
- Robin Burley, real-life mediator at Eskhill and Co, hosts the mock mediation.
We have also produced a Lessons and Feedback document from the four pilot mediations supported by the Scottish Land Commission which provides information on the mediation process and includes feedback from some of the participants.
